Taffeta Petticoats
Seams are all flat felled (no raw edges showing inside.) Adjustable hook-and-eye closure. We can produce hundreds of styles from the 1870's to 1915. These lovely pettis are just like Great Grandma wore...very colorful, and with that delicious rustle that drove men to distraction! In the days of beautiful long skirts, a girl's petticoats were as important a part of her wardrobe as her most expensive dress.

The power of such utterly feminine underthings was learned early..."Those who could not afford taffeta made shift with mohair or sateen under cloth skirts, but the delicious rustle was missing. How the high school miss...envied the girl who moved up to the front of the classroom accompanied by that delicate susurrus which spoke of taffeta underneath her serge!" (From Historic Costume for the Stage, 1935, Lucy Barton.)

Sigh...Imagine a typical high school day a hundred years ago, with all the girls in their crisp white waists, long skirts, and frothy petticoats! And the boys were probably too busy bringing frogs and snakes to school to notice!
