Cotton Waist -- Early 1900's

White cotton waist, back button, high collar, trimmed with lots of lace and tucks. This is a typical "casual" shirt that women wore in the early 1900's. Kind of like our modern tee shirts, can you imagine!? It is a very light and airy cotton batiste, and should always be worn with something dainty beneath it, such as a lacy camisole or full slip. Many other styles available. Also available in black. (Yes, even Great Grandma wore these in black, brown, gray, and navy.)

Great Grandma would have worn this beautiful waist over a chemise, a corset, and either a corset cover, a combination, or a princess petticoat (what we call a full slip these days.) Even in August...while she cooked over a wood stove in an un-airconditioned house, or as she worked as a switchboard operator or a seamstress. Oh, my goodness! But now you can enjoy this utterly feminine look in the comfort of your air-conditioned car and home and office. How lucky we are!

Price: $160
