Days Skirt
A red wool skirt, gathered around the entire waist, back hook-and-eye
closure. Typical of the styles of the 1840's. Wear this one with one or
more flounced petticoats (cotton, flannel, or quilted for warmth, if you
wish to be really authentic) but no hoop crinoline...they came later in
about the mid-1850's.
Price:
$100.00
Red
and Gray Cape
The cape
is elbow length, in gray wool with red trim to match the red skirt.
Price: $100.00
Like
the blouse under the cape? So sorry...we got it for a buck at a local
church thrift shop! If you are looking to put an outfit together at minimum
expense, try your local thrift shops, too. Look for blouses in cotton
or linen, or in polyester as long as it isn't shiny. Tucks, insertion
lace, high collars (for the 1880's and later look), and back buttons will
go a long way to making it look "passable." Can't find anything? Check
out our custom "waists" (Grandma's word for a blouse.)
