Purple satin with red and blue plaid trim on a two-piece 1860's-style visiting dress. Very fitted boned bodice is fully lined with silky red poly.

Separate underarm pads for the exaggerated bust fullness of the time. Bodice looks authentic and best when worn with a corset (sold elsewhere...see our links.) Contrasting grosgrain waist tie with front hidden hook-and-eye closure. Black "frog" closures on outside for decorative effect. Black cotton batiste undersleeves (detachable for washing) with lace cuffs. Black lace detachable collar.

Many yards of fabric in the skirt (felt like miles as we made it!)...must be worn with a hoop crinoline (sold separately) for proper effect. A taffeta petticoat over the crinoline gives the dress such a lovely swish when you enter the room. Although this dress would have been a wealthy woman's afternoon visiting dress, today it would be sensational as a formal dress for a theme dinner or a holiday party.

As shown, approximate modern size 6-8. Please state height from waist to floor in the shoes you would wear with it, so we can hem to suit. Or you may hem it yourself after trying it on.

Price: $1500.00

Also available in white for a lovely Victorian wedding dress!
